President Viktor Yuschenko is initiating continuation of the "Warm a Child with Love" project, which is a joint project between the government and businesspeople, in 2009.
Yuschenko announced this to journalists at a press conference in Lutsk.
"[We need to] resume the second stage of this program next year," Yuschenko said.
He added that he considered it a matter of principle for the project to be financed only by private businesses, with no financial support from the government.
Yuschenko stressed that 568 cottages were built for large families, 140 families received money for financing repair of their houses, and about 50 families received apartments under the "Warm a Child with Love" project in 2008.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Yuschenko created the "Warm a Child with Love" national philanthropic council on December 19, 2007, as a consultative and advisory organ and appointed his daughter Vitalina as the head of the council.
Yuschenko approved the composition of the council in January 2008 and asked several prominent businesspeople to join it.
