The RosUkrEnergo company has confirmed that it has received money from the Naftohaz Ukrainy national joint-stock company as payment of the debt it owes for natural gas.
RosUkrEnergo's spokesman Andrii Knutov announced this to Ukrainian News.
"The money is coming, but will most likely announced the outcome only after tomorrow," Knutov said.
Knutov did not provide details, including details of the amount of money it received from Naftohaz Ukrainy.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Naftohaz Ukrainy recently reached agreement with the Gazprom gas company (Russia) on payment of part of its gas debt to RosUkrEnergo by December 1, 2008.
RosUkrEnergo says that Naftohaz Ukrainy owes it USD 2.4 billion for gas supplies, but Naftohaz Ukrainy says it owes RosUkrEnergo USD 1.26-1.27 billion.
According to Naftohaz Ukrainy's First Deputy Chairman Ihor Didenko, Naftohaz Ukrainy owes USD 380 million for the natural gas that was supplied in September, USD 780 million for the gas that was supplied in October, and about USD 800 million for the gas that was supplied in November.
Gazprom has said that it is necessary for Naftohaz Ukrainy to pay its gas debt before the transition to direct supply of natural gas to Ukraine from 2009.
