Parliamentary deputy Andrii Parubii from the faction of the Our Ukraine - People's Self-Defense Bloc expressed the opinion that President Viktor Yuschenko may lead a political bloc named after him at the early parliamentary elections in case they are called.
He expressed this point of view to the reporters after the first stage of the Our Ukraine People's Union party's congress was over.
"I think it is an eloquent sign, if the early parliamentary elections are called in 2009 President Viktor Yuschenko will be at the helm of our party, or he will lead the Viktor Yuschenko Bloc if a bloc is formed. The President's name will be the first on the party ticket as the party leader," he said.
Parubii also noted that Viacheslav Kyrylenko, former leader of the People's Union Our Ukraine Party, will remain in the party leadership, Yuschenko will participate in its work as a ideological leader.
The parliamentary deputy also said that the party would consider the issue of membership reduction in the OUPU political council at the second stage of its congress.
The MP assumes that Kyrylenko may be elected first deputy head of the People's Union Our Ukraine Party at the next stage of the party congress.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Our Ukraine People's Union party elected President Viktor Yuschenko its leader instead of Viacheslav Kyrylenko, head of the Our Ukraine - People's Self-Defense Bloc faction.
