The rally is taking place on a section of pavement from the central department store in Khreschatyk Street to the building at 34 Khreschatyk Street.
At the same time, nearly 100 employees of the transport municipal companies Kyivskyi Metropoliten, running the city subway, and Kyivpastrans are rallying to retain the fares in the city.
There is only one free place near the entrance of the city administration, as it is protected by a low metal fence and policemen.
On the protected place there are eight service cars of former and current officials of the leadership of Ukraine and the city administration that are exhibited ahead of an auction to take place soon.
The cars used to be exhibited near the steps of the Kyiv city state administration.
Employees of the municipal transport companies are standing around the fence.
They are holding posters saying "safe traffic requires money," "raise our wages too, as we need to eat also!" do not provoke our radical steps!" "do not take senseless decisions!"
Ten buses are standing behind the employees of the transport companies. The buses signal at rather regular intervals.
Activists of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko and the European Party are standing behind the buses.
Activists of the BYT and the European Party can hardly be heard due to a load speaker installed on car standing the walls of the city administration.
On the other side of Khreschatyk Street in front of the city administration there are at least 10 microbuses and several propaganda tents of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko.
The traffic along Khreschatyk Street has not been blocked.
On Thursday, the Kyiv city council will convene for a session meeting to address the situation with the transport in Kyiv.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, a special governmental ad hoc team for transport fares in Kyiv on November 17 said it has arrived at a conclusion that the city authorities had no economically justified reasons to boost municipal transport fares to more than UAH 0.8 per trip in buses, trolleybuses, and trams and to UAH 1 per trip in the Kyiv subway.
The Kyiv city state administration increased fares in municipal transport, including subway by 200-300% to UAH 1.5 and UAH 2 per trip on November 4.
