Speaking to Ukrainian News in an exclusive interview, Oleksandr Lavrynovych, the Verkhovna Rada first deputy chairman, anticipated snap parliamentary elections following presidential ones.
"They are possible in case of the situation the incumbent Parliament is currently facing. If a coalition fails to be formed, snap elections are possible," he said.
There are all grounds to hold snap elections today, Lavrynovych said reminding that early parliamentary elections had not to be called half a year before the presidential ones.
However, only the head of the state can decide upon early parliamentary elections, Lavrynovych specified.
As Ukrainian News reported, Lavrynovych thinks the presidential elections should be held in January 2010.
Viktor Baloha, head of the President's Secretariat, supposes the snap parliamentary elections could not be held.
Yuschenko disbanded the Verkhovna Rada on October 9 and set early elections to the Verkhovna Rada for December 7.
Later in the month, Yuschenko suspended his decree on dissolving the Verkhovna Rada and early elections to the parliament.
He said he would set a new date for the early elections to the Verkhovna Rada after required funding was allocated.
