Verkhovna Rada deputy Anatolii Hrytsenko of the Our Ukraine - People's Self-Defense bloc faction has told journalists that Ukraine lacks a coordinator to settle situations with seizure of Ukrainian ships crews abroad.
"Unfortunately our state lacks proper coordination of efforts of different government and non-government structures," Hrytsenko said.
He thinks that the National Security and Defense Council secretary Raisa Bohatyriova has to perform this coordination but she is not capable of this.
"As for me, [coordination] should be performed by the NSDC secretary, but I think it is difficult for the current NSDC secretary, taking into account her experience and education, to do this," he said.
Thus he states that no one is in charge of this now.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, pirates seized on September 25 a Belizean vessel Faina with seventeen Ukrainians aboard off the Somalia coast.
The vessel also carried 33 T-72 tanks and six Hrad rocket launchers.
The crew still has not been freed.
