Tymoshenko believes that it is necessary to create a state reserve of power-generating coal, facilitate 100% sale of all types of coal, limit importation of coal, and extend the deadline for repayment of the loans obtained by enterprises in the coal industry.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, coal mining enterprises have asked the Cabinet of Ministers to provide UAH 730 million in financial assistance to them before 2009.

The Cabinet of Ministers has instructed the Coal Industry Ministry to prepare by 2009 a draft law on state support for (subsidizing of) the coal industry.
