Voters Committee Supposes Three-Four New Political Forces To Enter Rada After Snap Elections (15:36, Wednesday, November 5, 2008)

The Committee of Voters of Ukraine supposes that three-four political forces, not represented in the 6th convocation parliament, will enter the Verkhovna Rada after the snap parliamentary elections, the Committee board chairman Ihor Popov has announced at a press conference.

"At the start of the campaign there are theoretical chances that three-four parties and blocs, apart from the five parliamentary parties, can reach this result (3% of votes)," he said.

Popov stressed, results of monitoring behavior of prospect parliamentary newcomers in September-October show that most of them failed to begin serious work even amidst high probability of holding the elections in December.

The Committee representative marked, according to recent sociologic polls most electors have disappointed in those political forces they voted for at the previous parliamentary elections and which won seats in the Rada.

"Up to 40% of Ukrainian citizens do not want vote for the political forces represented in the Verkhovna Rada. This situation gives an opportunity to accelerate renewal of political forces," he said.

The Committee states, at the start of the parliamentary campaign parties and blocs represented in the Rada have some legal advantage in formation of electoral commissions.

The Committee is recommending that out-of-parliament parties prepare solid base of candidacies to electoral commissions and constituency commissions to consider relevant submissions at maximum when completing staff of precinct commissions.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Committee of Voters is predicting a turnout of minimum 60% during the coming early elections to the Verkhovna Rada.

On October 9, President Viktor Yuschenko disbanded the parliament and scheduled early parliamentary elections for December 7.

On October 20 he suspended this decree.

Yuschenko is going to choose a date for the early parliamentary elections after financial necessary for their organization is allocated.
