Yuschenko Concerned Over Financing Of Flood Consequences Liquidation (16:00, Monday, November 3, 2008)

President Viktor Yuschenko is concerned over financing dynamics of flood aftermath liquidation by the Cabinet of Ministers, the presidential press service said this in the report.

During his visit to Vyzhnytsia in Chernivtsi region, Yuschenko said that the government had not financed compensations worth UAH 124 million to residents of damaged houses.

The president urged the Cabinet of Ministers to pay the funds to the flood victims by November 5.

«I talked to the vice prime minister an hour ago, and he promised me to launch the financing. I’d like the government to keep its word,» he said.

Besides, the president said that the situation around financing of restoration of bridges, dams and roads is worse.

The reconstruction works in this sector lack UAH 350 million.

Yuschenko said he had urged the government to finance these reconstruction works until November 9.

According to the president, the damaged houses were restored and new house were constructed by 60% of the plan.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, on July 23-28, the floods hit Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Ternopil, Zakarpattia, Chernivtsi and Vinnytsia regions.
