Konstantin Zatulin, a State Duma deputy (Lower House), first deputy head of the State Duma Committee for CIS Affairs and Relations with Compatriots, thinks Russian-Ukrainian relations need to be saved.

He said this during a video bridge between Moscow and Kyiv titled Attempts to Exonerate OUN-UPA is a Crime Against Victory.

"The Russian-Ukrainian relations need to be saved", Zatulin said.

He believes one of the main reasons for their worsening is that Ukraine's leaders are trying to make Russia reconsider previous Russian and Ukrainian ties.

At the same time Zatulin noted the contracts between Ukrainian and Russian top leaders had been weakening.

These contacts are maintained at a lower level... any dialogue between top officials has been actually halted, he said adding the attempts to exonerate OUN-UPA had lead to reduction of bilateral meetings.

According to Zatulin, President Viktor Yuschenko regards any contracts between the Russian and the Ukrainian governments as a high treason.

As Ukrainian News reported, in July the Security Service of Ukraine banned Zatulin from entering Ukraine.

The SBU had earlier cautioned Zatulin against making anti-Ukrainian statements.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia announced that Ukraine had lifted the ban on Konstantin Zatulin's entry to Ukraine.
