The faction of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko in the Verkhovna Rada has asked the Constitutional Court to assess the constitutionality of President Viktor Yuschenko’s decree on parliament dissolution and early parliamentary elections.
The prime minister and the BYT leader announced this at a press conference.
«The deputies from our faction have turned to court to prove that the presidential decree is illegal. We have applied to an administrative court and to the Constitutional Court,» she said.
Tymoshenko added that the BYT has turned to courts because it considers the decree a violation of the Constitution.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Cabinet of Ministers calls on Yuschenko to cancel his decree on parliament dissolution and early parliamentary elections.
Tymoshenko said that early elections in conditions of the financial and economic crisis are inadmissible.
The President dissolved the parliament and called early elections for December 7.
