The Housing and Public Utility Economy Ministry considers that the only way to low prices for housing and public utility services is the introduction of the energy saving technologies.
Deputy Housing and Public Utility Economy Minister Serhii Zymyn told this to the press.
He said that the Finance Ministry had granted about UAH 600 million for this.
Of the amount, a total of UAH 336 million has already been sent to the local budgets.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Housing and Public Utility Economy Ministry called development of energy saving programs in the municipal entities as one of the major priorities in 2008.
In September, the Cabinet of Ministers allowed the State energy saving inspectorate to hold expertise investigations and issue conclusions on correspondence of current and promising energy saving undertakings to the criteria of energy saving.
In August, the experts called as unacceptable Finance Ministry’s cancellation of discounts for imports of the energy saving equipment, which is not produced in Ukraine.
