Verkhovna Rada Chairman Arsenii Yatseniuk has moved forward with an initiative to convene the first meeting of the Expert Economic Council on October 14.
Ukrainian News learned this from a statement by the press service of the Verkhovna Rada.
Yatseniuk was the initiator of the creation of the Expert Economic Council.
The main objective of the council is elaboration of general effective mechanisms to heal effects of the world economic crisis to Ukraine and the strengthening of the national economy.
The council will comprise representatives of the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the stock exchange, and leading economic experts of Ukraine.
The council will convene for its first meeting on October 14, and decision endorsed by the Expert Economic Council on that day will be submitted for consideration of the National Security and Defense Council on October 17.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, President Viktor Yuschenko on October 13 chaired a special meeting of the National Security and Defense Council, which tackled the question of how the government can minimize the influence of the world financial crisis on the economy of Ukraine.
