The Ministry of Transport and Communications has increased railway tariffs on international transportation of passengers by 20% as of October 11.

Ukrainian News learned this from the press service of the ministry.

By order No.1183 of September 25, the ministry increased the coefficients applied to railway tariffs on transportation of passengers, luggage and load.

The ministry increased the coefficients for sitting cars, cabin cars and luxury-class cars by 20% on average; the cost on platskart cars did not change.

The adjusted coefficients will be added to the basic cost by way of multiplication and will differ depending on the calendar period.

The maximum cost of ticket falls on the periods from August 6 to August 31 and from December 22 to December 30.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Transport and Communications Ministry increased railway tariffs on passenger transportation by 5% as of August 2 and by another 5% as of October.

In February, the Transport and Communications Ministry intended to increase railway tariffs on passenger transportation by 15% before 2009.

The ministry raised the tariffs for transportation of passengers and freight in second-class railcars on the East-West international railway route as of December 14.
