The Kyivenerho power distribution company, which supplies heat energy and electricity in Kyiv, intends to start heating residential houses in Kyiv when atmospheric temperatures drop to the relevant levels.

Kyivenerho’s Board Chairman Serhii Titenko announced this at a press conference.

«Kyiv residents will immediately receive everything when it becomes cold,» Titenko said, adding that Kyivenerho is technically fully ready to start supplying heat energy to the population.

According to Titenko, the standard procedures require heating of residential houses to start when the average atmospheric temperature falls to +8 degrees of lower for three consecutive days.

At the same time, Titenko said that the Weather Center is forecasting an average atmospheric temperature higher than +8 degrees for the next few days.

«The Weather Center has officially informed us that [the atmospheric temperature will be] +19 during the day and +11 at nights until October 17, inclusive,» Titenko said.

At the same time, according to Titenko, the company is already supplying heat energy to over 200 facilities in Kyiv.

«We connected all maternity homes, all inpatient medical institutions to heating today. That is practically over 200 facilities. As of today, we already have 66 connected kindergartens... Work involving heating of schools has started,» Titenko said.

At the same time, he stated the need for consumers to pay their debts for electricity and heat energy.

According to the data available as of October 13, consumers owe UAH 546.5 million for heating and UAH 422.8 million for electricity.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Kyiv municipal administration recently announced that it intended to start the heating season in Kyiv during the October 6-13 period.

Kyiv started heating medical establishments on September 24.

Kyivenerho is forecasting that its uncovered losses will amount to UAH 389 million at the end of 2008.

Kyivenerho ended 2007 with profits of UAH 6.149 million; its net revenues increased by 40.83% or UAH 1,340.535 million to UAH 4,624.091 million in 2007, compared with 2006.

The state owns a 50% stake + 1 share in the Kyivenerho joint-stock company (this stake has been contributed to the statutory capital of the national joint-stock company called the Energy Company of Ukraine) and Trelodia Investments Ltd. (Cyprus) owns 12.73%.
