Non-government organizations of the agricultural sector have addressed President Viktor Yuschenko requesting to adjourn dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada of the sixth convocation, organization representatives said.

«Viktor Andriyovych should make [deputies] endorse three major trends: tax, land and budget policy for 2009. Thus, he should postpone the decree,» president of the Framers and Private Landowners Association Ivan Tomych said.

Representatives of the non-government organizations call for endorsement of the 2009 state budget by the Verkhovna Rada and granting of UAH 10 billion for development of the countryside, education and medicine; UAH 5 billion for interventions of the Agrarian Fund; UAH 1 billion for support and development of servicing farm cooperatives; and UAH 0.5 billion for assistance to farms.

Leaders of the organizations also called on chairmen of the political parties and the parliament to stop political struggle and unite to take decisions important for the agricultural sector.

Besides, they call on the agrarians to make deputies endorse needed law amendments.

This call was supported by the All-Ukrainian union of farm producers, National union of farm cooperatives, Ukrainian agrarian confederation and other organizations.

«Our wish and request to the government, Agriculture Policy Ministry and the Verkhovna Rada is final regulation of the legislation regarding agricultural servicing cooperatives,» president of the National union of agricultural cooperatives Mykola Hrytsenko said.

He called for granting of UAH 7 billion for development of the agricultural servicing cooperatives for the period of 2009-2015.

In his turn, president of the Ukrainian agrarian confederation Leonid Kozachenko called for granting additional funds for the Agrarian Fund in 2009.

Kozachenko also advocated suspension of the mass meat imports, endorsement of the 2009 state budget and holding of the land and tax reforms.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, on October 8, Yuschenko disbanded the Verkhovna Rada of the sixth convocation.

He set the early Verkhovna Rada elections for December 7.

The parliament has not yet granted funds for holding of the elections estimated at UAH 417.5 million.
