In August, the population of Ukraine fell by 0.03% or 10,200 people, compared to July, to make 46,200,900 people as of September 1.

As of September 1, Ukraine's urban population was 31,569,800 people (a decrease by 0.03% or 8,200 people, compared to August 1), while its rural population was 14,631,100 people (a decrease by 0.02% or 2,000 people, compared to the previous month).
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in July, the population of Ukraine fell by 0.02% or 10,900 people, compared to June, to make 46,211,100 people as of August 1.
In 2007, the country's population fell by 0.6% or 273,300, compared to the beginning of the year.
According to the nationwide census that was conducted in December 2001, Ukraine's population comprised 48,415,500 people, including 32,538,000 living in urban and 15,877,500 in rural areas.
