President Viktor Yuschenko has canceled the initiative of creation of the local police, reads Presidential Decree No. 916/2008 of October 10.
Yuschenko revoked Presidential Decree No. 29 of January 22, 2001, which initiated arrangement of local police.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in March 2005, Verkhovna Rada regulated creation and functioning of local police, having passed a bill proposing amendments to relevant legislative acts.
In January 2001, President Leonid Kuchma by the relevant decree initiated the creation of local police.
It was planned that local police would be arranged from the staff of the Road Patrol Service, State Traffic Inspectorate, patrol and inspection service, and district traffic inspectors.
