President Viktor Yuschenko has no intention to suspend his decree on early termination of the Verkhovna Rada authorities in case parliamentary deputies fail to pass decisions required to hold snap elections.

This follows from a statement made by the presidential press service.

In his interview with the Inter TV channel Yuschenko stressed that the absence of the national register of voters is not a reason to cancel the decree, as the parliamentary elections 2007, like all the preceding ones, were held on formed election lists and were recognized by the society and the world community as just and fair.

"Don't look for a problem where there isn't any. Of course, I am the first one who advocates the electronic list of voters in Ukraine, a reliable base which must be financed by the government and the CEC must have funds to perform this work... But if it isn't ensured, this doesn't mean that people have not right to vote, to elect," he said.

The president also stressed that in case if parliamentary deputies do not make necessary amendments to the national budget for 2008 so to finance the preliminary elections, this money would be provided from the reserve fund.

The interview with Yuschenko will be aired on October 12, at 8 p.m.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, chair of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc parliamentary faction Ivan Kyrylenko admits that President Viktor Yuschenko may suspend his decree on early termination of the Verkhovna Rada powers.

MP Taras Tarasiuk of the Our Ukraine - People's Self-Defense bloc faction, who also leads the People's Rukh of Ukraine party, says that December 7 may be not the final date for the early elections to the Verkhovna Rada.

According to Tarasiuk, early elections to the Verkhovna Rada cannot be held ahead of deciding the questions of finance and register of voters.

President Viktor Yuschenko on October 8 disbanded the Verkhovna Rada of the sixth convocation and set the early elections to the Verkhovna Rada for December 7.
