Chairman of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko faction in the Verkhovna Rada Ivan Kyrylenko has doubts that the early parliamentary elections will be held on December 7.

He made this statement to the press after a meeting of his faction.

«Are there going to be elections on December 7? No, there won’t be any,» he said.

Kyrylenko thinks that elections will not take place on the date announced by President Viktor Yuschenko because political forces will challenge the election procedure.

Moreover, he continues, the BYT faction deputies concluded during the meeting that it is bad time for snap elections because the economic situation is complicated.

Nonetheless, if the government finds the money for the elections, the BYT is ready to participate in them, he stresses.

«We are against elections, but if they find the money tomorrow and the elections receive financing, we will certainly run in the race as a serious political force,» Kyrylenko commented.

He added that he does not like the idea of financing the elections from the reserve fund of the national budget.

He said that the faction meeting also discussed the date of the next BYT congress.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Kyrylenko thinks it is possible that Yuschenko will retract his decree on early termination of parliament powers.

Our Ukraine People's Self-Defense Bloc parliamentary deputy Taras Tarasiuk, the leaders of the People's Rukh of Ukraine Party, said that December 7 might not be the final date for the early elections to the Verkhovna Rada.

The Central Election Commission announced that amendments to the 2008 national budget allocating financing for the early parliamentary elections must be made before October 14.
