The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has no intention to apply to court for the National Bank to assign funds for holding of the snap elections to the Verkhovna Rada.

The Commission secretary Tetiana Lukash has told this reporters.

"No, the Central Electoral Commission presently has no intention to go to court," she replied to the question of whether the CEC is going to apply to court to oblige the National Fund finance the elections.

Lukash noted that the only way for funding the elections is allocation of the necessary sum from the national budget by amending it in the parliament.

The Commission secretary stressed that the CEC receives corresponding money from the state treasury.

Lukash turned attention at that funding of the election has not been provided still, and starting from 11 October the Commission must start to finance the election campaign.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, MP Oleksandr Yefremov, the first deputy leader of the Party of Regions faction at the Verkhovna Rada, presumes that the National Bank will fund the early elections to the Verkhovna Rada if a court passes this decision.

The CEC announced that amendments to the 2008 national budget allocating financing for the early parliamentary elections must be made before or on 13 October.

President Viktor Yuschenko has asked Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko to call an extraordinary meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers for 11 October and address the issue of allocating financing for the early parliamentary elections from the reserve fund of the national budget.
