The political council of the Party of the Regions has approved the party’s leader Viktor Yanukovych as the head of the party’s campaign for the early parliamentary elections scheduled for December.

The press service of the party announced this in a statement.

According to the statement, the deputy heads of the campaign are Oleksandr Yefremov (the first deputy leader of the party’s parliamentary faction) and parliamentary deputies Borys Kolesnykov and Vasyl Dzharty.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Central Electoral Commission’s Deputy Chairman Andrii Mahera has announced that campaigning for the early parliamentary elections will start on October 11.

Yuschenko announced dissolution of the parliament on October 8.

The decree on dissolution of the parliament was signed on October 9 and published on October 10 (it came into force on the day of its publication).

Yuschenko scheduled early parliamentary elections for December 7.
