The Interior Affairs Ministry intends to go on heightened alert across the country as the snap elections to the Verkhovna Rada have been scheduled.
Interior Affairs Minister Yurii Lutsenko has announced this at a press conference.
"Surely, police will tighten security across the state," he said.
Lutsenko marked, at the moment policemen do not guard state establishments, such as houses of the Presidential Secretariat, the Verkhovna Rada and the Cabinet of Ministers, because this is the task of the State Guard Department officers.
The minister stressed that in case of leadership of political structures and state establishments applies for, police would provide relevant guard.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Interior Affairs Minister Yurii Lutsenko, who is also leader of the People's Self-Defense public movement, advocates his joint participation of his organization and the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc in the early elections to the Verkhovna Rada.
Lutsenko is disappointed with actions of President Viktor Yuschenko at his post.
Lutsenko thinks that early parliamentary elections were in question because President Viktor Yuschenko wants to remove Yulia Tymoshenko from the post of prime minister.
