Deputy Head of the Presidential Secretariat Maryna Stavniichuk considers it’s not necessary to introduce changes in the law on state register of voters and on election of Verkhovna Rada deputies for legitimate holding of snap parliamentary elections.
Ukrainian News learned this from Stavniichuk herself.
«May be it would be better to improve legislation but in current situation I don’t consider it to be a big problem and it’s not the reason for saying that elections are not possible,» Stavniichuk said.
She thinks explanations from the Central Election Commission (CEC) as to composing and specifying lists of voters for snap Rada elections would be enough to hold elections normally and to determine their results, just as it was done at snap local elections.
«Snap local elections held on October 1, 2007 (when law on state register of voters took force) did required change of law on state register of voters. It wasn’t worked out, so CEC gave its explanations as to regulations implementation and usage of current law procedures for this issue,» she answered.
The deputy head of the Secretariat has said that the situation as to this issue is intentionally being exaggerated to give reasons for denial of the possibility to hold snap Rada elections.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Verkhovna Rada Chairman Arsenii Yatseniuk has said the holding of the early elections to the Verkhovna Rada will be impossible if the parliament does not pass laws facilitating the elections.
On October 8, President Viktor Yuschenko announced early termination of the Rada authorities.
The relevant order was undersigned on 9 October and took effect on October 10.
Snap parliamentary elections are scheduled for December 7.
