President Viktor Yuschenko calls on the Central Election Commission to launch preparations for the early Verkhovna Rada elections.

The presidential press service said this in the report.

«I’d ask you to start fulfilling your formal duties after publishing of the decree as of today,» Yuschenko said this at the meeting with chairman of the CEC Volodymyr Shapoval.

In his turn, Shapoval assured the president that publishing of the decree is an important legal factor for the CEC to launch the election campaign.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, deputy chairman of the CEC Andrii Mahera has said that the election campaign will start on October 11.

On October 8, Yuschenko disbanded the Verkhovna Rada of the sixth convocation.

On October 9, he signed the decree and published it on October 10.

Yuschenko set the early Verkhovna Rada elections for December 7.
