Tymoshenko Bloc Stands For Urgent Consideration Of 2009 National Budget Bill By Rada On Thursday (16:00, Thursday, October 9, 2008)

The Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko faction in the Verkhovna Rada stands for urgent consideration of budget bills, including the bill on the 2009 national budget, at an evening meeting of the parliament on Thursday.

Deputy Rada Speaker and one of the BYT leaders of Mykola Tomenko announced this at a press briefing.

«At 3 p.m. our faction will propose to the heads of the factions and demand that at 4 p.m. the Verkhovna Rada urgently consider three issues of principle which concern our life and the life of every citizen already today, not tomorrow,» he said.

The BYT suggests debating changes to the 2008 national budget to earmark financing to the Pension Fund for implementation of the law on raising prestige of miner’s labor.

According to Tomenko, the BYT also demands a vote on the Budget Code bill, which already passed its first reading, and the bill on the 2009 national budget.

The deputy speaker said that the BYT faction will agree to consider the bills on organization of early parliamentary elections only after the budget bills are endorsed.

He expressed readiness of the BYT to work until midnight on Thursday.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, President Viktor Yuschenko is expecting the Verkhovna Rada to pass a legislative framework for the organization of early parliamentary elections by October 9.
