Andrii Portnov, a Verkhovna Rada deputy, deputy head of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc faction, anticipates President Viktor Yuschenko's resignation in the case of mass protest actions against his policy.
He said this to reporters outside the Cabinet of Ministers.
"Early presidential elections are possible when the President gets completely lost and is not supported by the society, then any unconstitutional act may lead to mass protests. The only legal way out of this situation is president's resignation", he said.
Portnov said one of these constitutional acts could be a President's decision to disband the Rada.
At the same time Portnov noted if the President continued to perform his duties until a new parliament started working, the new Rada would take up a consolidated stance and express no confidence in Yuschenko's policy.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada Deputy Volodymyr Polokhalo (Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc faction) is calling on President Viktor Yuschenko to resign.
Justice Minister Mykola Onyschuk said there are no legal grounds for calling early presidential elections.
Petro Symonenko, leader of the Communist Party faction at the Verkhovna Rada, calls on political forces to back his party's initiative on launching impeachment of President Viktor Yuschenko.
