Oleksandr Yefremov, a Verkhovna Rada deputy, first deputy head of the Party of Regions faction, denies all participants in the Wednesday consultation with the President agreed on holding snap elections to the Verkhovna Rada.
He said this to reporters.
"This is the false information circulated by the president's Secretariat", he said.
The lawmaker stressed the press had not been admitted to the consultation, and the president's press-secretary had interpreted the course of the consultation on her own.
In the meeting with Verkhovna Rada Speaker Arsenii Yatseniuk faction leaders expressed their disapproval of the statement of Yuschenko's press-service, Yefremov noted.
Each of the attendees in the consultation can prove the statement to be false because the viewpoints they expressed were not unanimous with the president's one", he said.
Yefremov emphasized the consultation had not centered on supporting the snap elections by factions leaders.
Representatives of political forces and Rada leaders were listening to an hour lecture Yuschenko was giving about his powers to dissolve the Parliament, the lawmaker commented.
As Ukrainian News reported, the president's press-service stated leaders of all parliamentary factions had agreed about holding the snap parliamentary elections.
Under Article 90 of the Constitution, the decision on terminating the Verkhovna Rada's powers is made by the president after consultations with the parliament chairman, his deputies and leaders of Rada factions.
