V.S. Energy International Ukraine, a subsidiary of V.S. Energy International NV (Netherlands), has launched the construction of a steam power plant in Izmail (Odesa region), reporters learned from Anatolii Zommer, vice president of V.S. Energy International Ukraine.
He specified that this has become possible due to successful expert examination of the future power plant.
In his words, due to overall price rises, the plant value also increased to over USD 300 million.
«Odesa region, whose territory is more than Moldova on the whole, has no generating capacities of its own, which seriously aggravates the supply of electricity to consumers in the region,» Zommer said.
He noted that the project successfully blends with a complex of events over the 2012 European Football Championship, including in Odesa region.
«The launching of the Izmail station is scheduled for 2011. It will largely cover local requirements. Its capacity is 268 megawatt,» Zommer said.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Odesaoblenerho energy distribution company announced in 2006 that it planned to build steam and gas stations in the city of Izmail, a district center in Odesa region.
25.01% of the shares in Odesaoblenerho belong to the State Property Fund and are managed by the Energy Company of Ukraine, 44% to the V.S. Energy International-Ukraine limited liability company, 11.16% to V.S. Energy International N.V. (Netherlands), 5.41% to Foster Group Management (Bahamas), and the remainder to other corporate entities and individual investors.
Odesa region has a population of 2.4 million people.
