Gazprom Sbyt Ukraina, a Kyiv-based subsidiary of Russia’s Gazprom gas monopoly, plans to supply a total of about 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas to industrial consumers in 2008.
Gazprom Sbyt Ukraina’s Director-General Anatolii Podmyshalskyi announced this to journalists.
«In principle, we aim to reach 5 billion cubic meters by the end of the year,» Podmyshalskyi said.
Podmyshalskyi said that the company’s gas supplies would total about 550 million cubic meters in October and about 3 billion cubic meters in the entire fourth quarter of the year.
However, he added that these targets could be revised because of a fall in gas consumption by metallurgical enterprises.
According to Podmyshalskyi, the company will have to find new consumers of 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas in order to achieve its goal of supplying 5 billion cubic meters to industrial consumers at the end of the year.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Gazprom Sbyt Ukraina’s operations on the Ukrainian market are based on the «Agreement on Development of Relations in the Gas Industry» signed by Russia’s Gazprom gas company and Ukraine’s Naftohaz Ukrainy national joint-stock company.
Under this agreement, Gazprom Sbyt Ukraina can annually supply 7.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Ukrainian industrial consumers.
The National Electricity Regulation Commission licenses Gazprom Sbyt Ukraina on April 24 to supply 7.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas at unregulated tariffs.
