President Viktor Yuschenko has said he will give several more days to the factions of the Verkhovna Rada to build up a majority coalition.
Ukrainian News learned this from the presidential press service.
"My decision is to give several more days [to the parliamentary factions] for achieving understanding. This shows that I am an adherent to agreement in the parliament, as this is a mission of the parliamentary forces," Yuschenko said.
Yuschenko urged the factions of the parliament to have constructive dialogue.
The president said he would not question a coalition of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko and the Party of Regions if this coalition formed.
If the factions fail to create a coalition within several days, the president is prepared to declare early elections to the Verkhovna Rada.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, President Viktor Yuschenko intended to hold a meeting with the leaders of the Verkhovna Rada on the dissolution of the parliament on October 7.
The Party of Regions and the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko denied they had received official invitation to come to the meeting with the leaders of the Verkhovna Rada on the dissolution of the parliament on October 7.
The faction of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko has collected 155 signatures of its deputies in the Verkhovna Rada in favor of a coalition with the Our Ukraine - People's Self-Defense Bloc.
Yuschenko branded the move as political one for Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko to retain the post.
Tymoshenko said Yuschenko was not interested in a coalition of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko and the Our Ukraine - People's Self-Defense Bloc.
On September 16, Verkhovna Rada Chairman Arsenii Yatseniuk announced from the parliament's rostrum the collapse of the democratic coalition.
