The Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko (BYT) faction in the Verkhovna Rada has collected 155 signatures of BYT deputies in favor of a coalition with the Our Ukraine People's Self-Defense Bloc.
Deputy Parliament Speaker, one of the BYT faction leaders Mykola Tomenko made this statement to the press.
"We have 155 signatures. I think there will be 156 of them, in favor of making the coalition [with the OU-PSD]," he said.
The lawmaker expressed hope that BYT deputy Ihor Rybakov will also support the decision of the faction and sign a corresponding document.
Tomenko noted that a parliamentary coalition between the BYT and the OU-PSD depends on the OU-PSD in the current situation.
"We have got the decision of the faction, voted upon unanimously, and soon after Our Ukraine decides, we will be able to announce it [the creation of the coalition] in the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday [October 7]," he said.
The deputy speaker said that his faction is ready to vote for cancellation of the first reading bill on a national referendum again, and Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has agreed to again sign the statement of the European Union on the situation in Georgia, backed by President Viktor Yuschenko.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Yuschenko takes the effort of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc faction to restore the coalition with the Our Ukraine People's Self-Defense bloc faction as a political move to keep Yulia Tymoshenko in the prime minister's chair.
Tymoshenko believes that President Viktor Yuschenko is not interested in rebuilding the coalition between the parliamentary factions of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc and the Our Ukraine People's Self-Defense bloc.
The OU-PSD - BYT coalition collapsed on September 16.
