The Vinnytsia regional state administration decided to hold from October 4 through October 25 autumn fairs to sell agricultural products in order to avoid soaring prices of foodstuff in the region.

Vasyl Chornyi, deputy head of the Vinnytsia regional administration, told Ukrainian News about this.

According to him, agricultural fairs will be held on Saturdays starting from October 4 through October 25.

The local authorities are planning to involve as many regional foodstuff producers as possible.

"Participation in the fair is beneficial both for producers who get an opportunity to sell their goods directly gaining hard cash, and for the residents who are permitted to buy foodstuff products at the sale price set by producers with no mediators," he argues.

Chornyi also said that the regional administration launched the similar practice last year on the eve of New Year and Christmas, and also before Easter and May holidays. It let avoid speculative growth of prices for foodstuff, and allowed to increase sale volumes by UAH 40 million.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Vinnytsia regional state administration decided to hold fairs to sell agricultural products before Easter and May holidays in order to avoid a rise in prices of foodstuffs in the region.

In January, the Vinnytsia regional state administration limited the trade markup on essential foodstuffs to 5-20%.

In August, the Vinnytsia regional state administration limited the trade markup on chicken to 15%.
