The Cabinet of Ministers has ordered motorbike drivers and their passengers to wear fastened helmets when they drive.
Ukrainian News learned this from Cabinet resolution No.876 of October 1.
By this resolution, the government changed Cabinet resolution No.1306 «On Traffic Rules» of October 10, 2001.
The Cabinet prohibited persons who go on animal-drawn transport and cattle drivers to move along motor roads of national importance if there is a possibly of using local roads.
Moreover, the document reads further, a green arrow sign will be installed at the level of red light signal to permit traffic in the direction it points to through a red light.
However, at this point the movement is allowed if other motorists are let first.
The Cabinet also established that passengers on the road and on the roadside should have reflective marks on them in the dark or when driver’s view is restricted.
Buses and minibuses carrying groups of children cannot go faster than 80 kilometers per hour.
Their drivers cannot have less than five years of driving experience and must be of the adequate driving category.
The amended rules further say that drivers are prohibited from carrying children shorter than 145 centimeters or children under 12 in transport means that have no seat belts.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Cabinet of Ministers named the effort of ensuring human rights and freedoms and road safety improvements the Internal Affairs Ministry’s priorities in 2008.
