Party of Regions parliamentary deputy Taras Chornovil has said it is possible that Russia may start armed actions against Ukraine if provocations are made against its Black Sea Fleet in Crimea.
He announced this at a press conference.
«If they [Russian ships in the Black Sea] see the ways out of the harbors blocked, they will begin to shoot,» he said.
Chornovil said provocations like these were under preparation during the conflict in Georgia, and today they are also under consideration.
«As far as I know, these things have not been abandoned to date,» he noted.
The deputy thinks it is possible that the Ukrainian authorities will order seizure of the Black Sea Fleet’s lighthouses by force and this may also lead to aggression on the part of Russia.
At the same time, Chornovil thinks that Crimea cannot be cut from Ukraine, but with Sevastopol it is possible.
«No one will ever take Crimea from Ukraine, but we may lose Sevastopol,» he emphasized.
He said that attempts to push Russia into an armed conflict may take place soon.
