Parliamentary Deputy Taras Chornovil of the Party of the Regions is not ruling out the possibility of the parliamentary factions of the Party of the Regions, the Our Ukraine-People’s Self-Defense bloc (OU-PSD), and the Lytvyn Bloc forming a coalition.
Chornovil was speaking at a press conference.
«The second option is formation of a coalition by the Party of the Regions, the Lytvyn Bloc, and a large part of the OU-PSD,» Chornovil said.
According to Chornovil, this option is being considered in the Presidential Secretariat and President Viktor Yuschenko supports it.
«Yuschenko is personally inclined toward it,» Chornovil said.
According to Chornovil, such a development of events may be realized in the near future because the Party of the Regions is presently cooperating actively with Yuschenko.
At the same time, Chornovil stressed that the Party of the Regions’ active cooperation with Yuschenko was specifically the reason for his decision to leave the party.
«I cannot lie under the President, serve him and Baloha,» Chornovil said.
He added that he was particularly dissatisfied with the fact that the Party of the Regions has recently been conducting an inconsistent policy that amounted to taking turns to establish alliances with the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc and the OU-PSD.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Yuschenko favors formation of a parliamentary coalition by the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc and the OU-PSD, with amendments to the obligations of the two coalition members.
Chornovil announced on October 2 that he was leaving the Party of the Regions.
