The Kyiv city council has decided to analyse the state of the fuel and energy complex of the capital and economical justification of the current tariffs for housing and public utility services.
The Kyiv city council approved this decision at the meeting.
To implement this plan the Kyiv city council approved the proposition of its secretary Deputy Kyiv Mayor Oles Dovhyi to create a working group consisting of all the factions deputies.
At the same time before voting for group creation deputies from Vitalii Klychko Bloc and Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc factions announced that this group is being founded to investigate tariff policy and then increase tariffs.
The deputies think that Dovhyi has initiated creation of this group to shift responsibility for possible housing and public utility services tariffs increase to the deputies, though the decisions like that can be approved only by the Kyiv city state administration.
But the decision on creation of the commission was approved despite protests of deputies.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, earlier Kyiv city state administration has asked the State inspectorate for control over prices in Kyiv to check expenses of Kyivvodokanal and Kyivenerho municipal enterprises for provision of housing and public utility services by September 23.
In June, the city council decided to grant UAH 181.9 million to Kyivenerho and Kyivvodokanal to compensate difference between current tariffs for housing and public utility services and their prime cost.
In December 2007, Kyivvodokanal estimated the needed compensation from the Kyiv city budget for the difference between current tariffs for water supply and draining and their prime cost at UAH 292 million for 2008 in case tariffs are not changed.
