PGO Summons MP Zhvania (OU-PSD) To Give Evidence In Yuschenko Poisoning Case On September 11 (17:07, Wednesday, September 10, 2008)

The Prosecutor-General's Office (PGO) has summoned Parliamentary Deputy David Zhvania of the Our Ukraine-People's Self-Defense bloc (OU-PSD) to appear on September 11 to give evidence in the case involving the poisoning of President Viktor Yuschenko in 2004.

The press service of the PGO announced this in a statement.

Zhvania is scheduled to give evidence at 10:00.

The summons was sent to Zhvania's place of residence.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the PGO has also summoned Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko to give evidence in the poisoning case on September 11.

Zhvania believes that Yuschenko's accusation that Zhvania was involved in his poisoning violates the principle of presumption of innocence and denies his involvement.

Yuschenko said on July 24 that he believed that Zhvania was involved in his poisoning in 2004.

Zhvania refused to be questioned at the main investigation department of the PGO on July 23.

Zhvania said on Radio Liberty on May 30 that Yuschenko was not poisoned.
