Our Ukraine People's Union Party Urges Patriotic Forces To Consolidate Around Yuschenko (17:50, Monday, September 8, 2008)

The Our Ukraine People's Union Party urges patriotic political forces to unite around President Viktor Yuschenko.

Ukrainian News learned this from a statement made by the press service of the party.

According to Viacheslav Kyrylenko, the party leader, the necessity emerged after recent joint actions of the factions of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko and the Party of Regions at the Verkhovna Rada.

"In this environment all caring about our freedom and independence must forget about differences and unite around President Viktor Yuschenko. Only this union of democratic and patriotic forces can defend Ukraine today from the revenge of the anti-Ukrainian forces and the introduction in our land of a pro-Kremlin clan dictatorship," the press service quoted Kyrylenko as saying.

In his opinion, all patriotic forces must unite for defending Ukrainian national interests.

Kyrylenko believes that actions of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko and the Party of Regions each day destroy the foundations of the Ukrainian sovereign state - the system of the national security, the system of the defense and foreign policies, the system of state management.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Viacheslav Kyrylenko predicts a coalition among the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko, the Party of Regions, and the Communist Party of Ukraine at the Verkhovna Rada.

Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko hopes that the faction of the Our Ukraine - People's Self-Defense Bloc will reconsider its decision to leave the coalition.

Tymoshenko accused President Yuschenko of disrupting the coalition between the BYT and the Our Ukraine - People's Self-Defense Bloc.

The pro-presidential bloc decided to leave the coalition on September 2.
