Secretariat Deputy Head Kislinskyi Says Actions Of Party Of Regions And BYT At Rada Damage Ukraine's International Image (16:39, Monday, September 8, 2008)

Presidential Secretariat Deputy Head Andrii Kislinskyi believes that the joint actions of the factions of the Party of Regions and the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko at the Verkhovna Rada damage the international image of Ukraine.

Ukrainian News learned this from a statement by the presidential press service.

He said the harmful actions of the BYT and the Party of Regions had taken place ahead of important events such as the summit Ukraine-European Union, the NATO summit, and the visit of U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney to Ukraine.

"One can predict that the actions of the two political forces will shock our international partners by their cynicism, absolute ignoring of constitutional norms, and breaking of the political agreements within the democratic coalition," he said.

He further said a press conference by Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko on Monday showed that the premier was executing a plan for a coalition with the Party of Regions, which was agreed with the leadership of Russia.

"After the events in Georgia, where Russia tried to break the political elite with the armed force, the Kremlin engaged a more delicate scenario for Ukraine to settle its geopolitical tasks - it simply manipulated the Ukrainian politicians," he said.

In his opinion, Tymoshenko was not concealing her intentions to formalize a coalition with the Party of Regions and started to appeal to the patriotic electors in the western and central regions of Ukraine and say she will defense the Ukrainian interests together with the Party of Regions.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Kislinskyi accused Prime Minister Tymoshenko of realizing of a Russian plan for the political crisis in Ukraine.

The Ukraine-EU summit will take place in France on September 9.
