Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has described the Presidential Secretariat's treason accusation against her as marasmic.
Tymoshenko was speaking at a press conference.
According to Tymoshenko, a letter that the Presidential Secretariat's head Viktor Baloha wrote to the Security Service of Ukraine's acting head Valentyn Nalyvaichenko provided seven reasons for the treason accusation.
"And it was written at the end of the letter: 'since all these information demonstrate that the government and the Prime Minister betrayed [Ukraine's] national interests, specifically these bulletins confirm an agreement that the Russian leadership will finance Tymoshenko's election campaign to the tune of about USD 1 billion,'" Tymoshenko said.
She then described the accusation as marasmic.
"Tell me, when did Ukraine, when did the Presidential Secretariat come to this marasmus?" Tymoshenko said.
Tymoshenko read out the sections of the letter in which the Presidential Secretariat made treason accusations against her.
The first section accuses Tymoshenko of sabotaging President Viktor Yuschenko's policy aimed at ensuring Ukraine's energy independence. Specifically, it accused her of refusing to sign agreements on delivery and transportation of Caspian crude oil through the Odesa-Brody oil pipeline with the participation of the Ukrtransnafta company and three companies controlled by the Pryvatbank group.
Tymoshenko stressed that the sole aim of signing these agreements was to pump technical crude oil (which is used to facilitate transportation) worth USD 300 million, which is presently inside the pipeline.
She stressed that there is presently no contract for delivery of Caspian crude oil.
Tymoshenko said that the Cabinet of Ministers did not issue permission for conclusion of the above-mentioned contracts because of this.
The second section accused Tymoshenko of creating artificial obstacles to the operations of investors in Ukraine, particularly operations involving the mining of deposits on the shelf of the Black Sea (the Cabinet of Ministers' initiative on termination of a product-sharing agreement between Ukraine and Vanco International (Bermuda)).
Tymoshenko said that the product-sharing agreement was of interest to Ukrainian oligarchs, particularly Dmytro Firtash, who is a co-owner of the RosUkrEnergo company. According to Tymoshenko, this was the reason for the termination of the product-sharing agreement.
The third accused her of attempting to sell the Odesa portside factory to Russian companies.
Moreover, according to Tymoshenko, the Presidential Secretariat accused her of preparing amendments to the Ukrainian Constitution jointly with representatives of the Russian presidential administration and ignoring the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council's decisions aimed at improving the level of information security in Ukraine.
Moreover, according to Tymoshenko, she was accused of failing to sign the conditions under which ships belonging to the Black Sea fleet are to cross Ukraine's borders.
Tymoshenko read only six of the seven accusations that she said that Baloha made against her in his letter to Nalyvaichenko.
Tymoshenko said that the Security Service of Ukraine analyzed Baloha's letter and then wrote a letter to the Prosecutor-General's Office, saying that Baloha's letter warranted the launching of a criminal case.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Tymoshenko has announced that an investigation has been launched against her and several members of the Cabinet of Ministers and that she was being monitored.
Tymoshenko also said that certain deputy general prosecutors were being pressured into filing a criminal case against her.
