The parliamentary faction of the Communist Party does not intend to participate in a formation of a parliamentary coalition with the Party of the Regions and the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc.
Petro Symonenko, the head of the parliamentary faction of the Communist Party, announced this at a news briefing.
«I am stressing once again that the Communist Party will not participate if we are speaking about the format [for a parliamentary coalition] that is being imposed today, i.e. the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc and the Party of the Regions,» Symonenko said.
He stressed that the Communist did not intend to form a coalition the nationalist political forces whose support brought President Viktor Yuschenko to power.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the parliamentary faction of the Our Ukraine-People’s Self-Defense bloc decided on September 2 to withdraw from its parliamentary coalition with the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc.
The Communist Party said in July that it was not ruling out the possibility of forming a parliamentary coalition with the Party of the Regions, the Lytvyn Bloc, and certain individual parliamentary deputies.
