The Socialist Party of Ukraine is planning to create a Left Bloc with the Communist Party.
This is stated in a press-release circulated by the party's press-service.
"We have sent a letter to the Communist Party requesting to form a Left Bloc. We are waiting for the reply", the press-service cites Yaroslav Mendus, secretary of the Socialist Party political council, as saying.
According to Mendus, in case of increasing a passing threshold to the Verkhovna Rada to 8-10%, political forces representing the minority of our population will enter the Parliament and doom it to dissolution.
Mendus said the Socialist Party advocates open-party-list parliamentary elections.
As Ukrainian News reported, the Socialist Party of Ukraine has been arranging preparations to snap parliamentary elections since early June.
The Socialist Party and the Socialist-Democratic Party (United) have been conducting negotiations on unification of left-wing parties since the start of 2008.
