Mykola Katerynchuk, leader of the European Party, a Verkhovna Rada deputy of the Our Ukraine - People's Self-Defense Bloc Faction, predicts Party of Regions leader Viktor Yanukovych will win a race for presidency in case of early elections to the Verkhovna Rada.
He said this in an interview with the Gazeta 24.
Katerynchuk thinks early elections to the Verkhovna Rada will considerably weaken electoral position of democratic forces, and hence their candidate for presidency will not get enough votes.
"The Party of Regions will win for sure because Viktor Yanukovych will become a real candidate for presidency", he said.
In case of snap parliamentary elections, the Our Ukraine - People's Self-Defense Bloc Faction will obtain fewer seats in the parliament.
Katerynchuk assumes that the Party of Regions will initiate a new coalition at the Rada, and a pro-presidential political force will become its eventually.
Katerynchuk predicts early parliamentary elections to be held in December.
As Ukrainian News reported, experts say that early elections to the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine are highly probable.
On September 3, President Viktor Yuschenko declared the intention to dissolve the Rada if a new coalition was not created in the parliament within the terms set by the law.
