President Viktor Yuschenko on Friday thanked the Ukrainian national team for deserving representation of Ukraine at the Beijing Olympics.
He said the words of gratitude at grand events in the honor of the Ukrainian medalists of XXIX Olympics.
"I thank champions, medalists, and participants of XXIX Summer Olympics, their coaches, all involved in the work for the sake of triumphs of our country. The Olympics of 2008 brought Ukraine a unique achievement, and let it be always so with us," Yuschenko said.
President Yuschenko said all sportsmen showed their colossal abilities and did a lot of for the patriotic union of the nation.
Yuschenko hopes the achievements of the Ukrainian sportsmen will set a good example for young people and inspire them for going info sport and physical culture.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Ukrainian national team finished the Olympic Games in Beijing in the 11th place having won 27 medals.
Beijing hosted XXIX Olympics August 8 through August 24.
