The League of Insurance Organizations of Ukraine proposes examining major problems within the insurance forum slated for September 15 through September 19 in Yalta.
Ukrainian News learned this from a press release circulated by the League.
"A specialized conference "Crucial Issues and Trends in Auto Insurance. International Practice" will be held within the VIII International Yalta Forum of Insurance Market Players and insurers will share their experience in this area", the press release reports.
Oleksandr Filoniuk, president of the League of Insurance Organizations of Ukraine, said the society is moving with a slow pace towards realizing the need for insurance.
Thus, according to the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine, a number of compulsory policies for the owners of vehicles grew 85% in the first sixth months 2008, but the number of insured does not exceed 40% of the market demand.
"Unfortunately, most drivers consider compulsory civil liability motor-vehicle insurance a commercial rather than social matter. Meanwhile, damage compensations have totaled UAH 560 million since the law on compulsory civil liability motor vehicle insurance came into force," Filoniuk said.
In general, insurance indemnities exceed payments two folds because of the increasing number of motor vehicles, poor training of drivers and a lack of rigorous control by the State Motor Road Inspectorate.
That is why the forum will focus on the above mentioned issues including legislative regulations.
According to the State Motor Road Inspectorate, over 1 million cars are registered in Kyiv, besides 500,000 transit transport.
As Ukrainian News reported, about 700 insurers from 30 world countries took part in the VII International Yalta Insurance Forum in 2007.
