Rada Deputy Liashko (BYT) Calls On Yuschenko To Dismiss Chernihiv Governor Khomenko (10:57, Sunday, September 7, 2008)

Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleh Liashko of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko faction calls on President Viktor Yuschenko to dismiss Chairman of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration Volodymyr Khomenko.

He voiced his call at a parliament meeting.

"As a people's deputy, I am addressing the President of Ukraine officially with the proposal to thoroughly investigate the performance of Khomenko in the post of Chernihiv Regional State Administration chairman and decide on his dismissal from the post," Liashko said.

In his opinion, Khomenko's performance in the post of Chernihiv governor negatively affects the pace of economic growth in the region.

Liashko stressed that wage backlog has increased since Khomenko was appointed to govern the region.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in April, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko suggested that the Cabinet should consider Yuschenko's request to dismiss Khomenko.

Khomenko was appointed Chernihiv governor on October 12, 2007.
