September 2 through September 5, Vinnytsia region, Odesa region, and Crimea are hosting large-scale exercises of the military-medical elements of the Defense Ministry to maintain skills of rendering medical aid during the cleanup works after natural and man-caused disasters.
On September 3, a military mobile hospital was deployed at the Havryshivka air base outside Vinnytsia to render aid to those injured as a result of natural and man-caused disasters as part of the cleanup works.
Mi-8 medical helicopters and An-26 "Vita" flying hospital were engaged in the exercises of rendering medical aid.
Also, participating in the exercises were leaders of the Defense Ministry and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, leaders of the health care department of the Defense Ministry, heads of the military-medical centers, chief medical specialists of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine, heads of the centers of medical rehabilitation and spa treatment, heads of military hospitals, heads of the medical services of the air commands Center, West, South, heads of the military medical services of the army corps and epidemiological establishments.
Major-General Petro Melnyk, the head of the health care department of the Defense Ministry, manages and coordinates the exercises of the military-medical service.
