The dummy is made of a metal structure.
They are covered with special paint that glows in the dark, imitating the glow of the jackets worn by traffic police.
The Interior Affairs Ministry started installing the dummies on automobile roads in the Vinnytsia region in July 2006.
The installation of the dummies is an experiment based on the experience of Russian police.
Automobile drivers slow down when they see the dummies, and the police are hoping that this will significantly reduce the number of accidents on automobile roads in the Vinnytsia region.
The dummies are installed at the most dangerous sections of automobile roads, where the largest numbers of automobile accidents are recorded.
Police plan to change the locations of the dummies every 2-3 days to prevent automobile drivers from getting used to them.
There were also plans to install dummies dressed in traffic-police uniform in decommissioned automobiles.
