On August 29, Dnipro carrier rocket orbited five RapidEye satellites.
Representative of the liaisons department of the Pivdenne state design bureau told this to Ukrainian News.
«At 10:15 am, Kyiv time, Dnipro carrier rocket was launched from Baikonur space-launch complex,» he said.
He said that RapidEye satellites are designed for remote earth probing and monitoring.
«The satellites were launched in interests of insurance companies, which monitor condition of crops. [companies] from Canada and Germany. The satellites were manufactured in Britain,» he said.
A RapidEye satellite has weight of 150 kilos and its operation period is seven years.
A satellite has six cameras with resolution of 6.5 meters.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, since 1992, specialists have held works over creation of Dnipro space rocket complex.
Kosmotrans Ukrainian-Russian company was created to implement the project.
First Dnipro carrier rocket was launched in April 1999.
Dnipro project provides for reequipment of intercontinental ballistic rockets РС-20 into three-stage carrier rocket.
